Level of Experience

More experience will usually mean more patients of your type the prosthetist will have seen, more trouble shooting, and more experience with creative options and alternatives to fitting you.

Credentials

There are several different types of credentials a person can obtain to become a prosthetist and to further their education. STATE LICENSE: A licensure process is required in some but not all states. If you are in one of the states that require licensure, you should only see a licensed prosthetist. MASTERS: A masters degree is the highest degree for a clinical prosthetist (MSPO). CP/CPO: is a credential issued by ABC. BOCP: is a credential issued by BOC. FAAOP: is a credential issued by the AAOP.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) is a nonprofit organization focused on advancing marketplace trust. The BBB collects and provides free business reviews on businesses in the United States. The BBB serves as an intermediary between consumers and businesses.

Amputee Coalition Member

The Amputee Coalition is a non for profit and is able to exist through grants, donations and memberships. A prosthetistâ€™s investment in a membership helps the AC continue to reach goals, while providing amputees with valuable resources. AC membership also helps make it possible for the Amputee Coalition to effectively advocate with state legislators and in Congress.

WHAT IS THE PROSTHETIST FINDER?

The â€œProsthetist Finderâ€ is a software application (APP) that allows consumers to search a database of prosthetists based upon many characteristics important to the consumersâ€™ needs.

WHO IS THE PROSTHETIST FINDER FOR?

Anyone trying to find a prosthetist, and any prosthetist that wants to be found, hosted by the Amputee Coalition.

WHAT'S IN IT FOR A PROSTHETIST?

A new way for people to find a prosthetist through the Amputee Coalition using a query APP.

DOES THE AMPUTEE COALITION RECOMMEND A PROSTHETIST?

No way! This APP will simply allow a user (an amputee or referral) to query specifically what they are looking for in a prosthetist. It will provide a rank order of all prosthetists within their queried parameters.

DO INTERESTED GROUPS HAVE INFLUENCE?

The Amputee Coalition welcomes fair, honest and non-bias input suggestions to help us provide the most user-accessible prosthetist referral APP.

EXPERIENCING TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES?

The PF APP will only work for a location if the Prosthetist inputs their data correctly. The APP can only sort data that is there. Â We need your participation, and yourÂ participationÂ is mutually beneficial. Â The APP has beenÂ rigorouslyÂ tested and may need updates occasionally.Â However, weÂ knowÂ it is working well in areas where Prosthetists areÂ participating.
